The Ways of Prayer and Meditations is a compendium of Christian devotional and hagiographical texts assembled in Spain by several scribes over the course of decades in the fifteenth century. Many of the texts concern Saint Dominic, and the manual known as his Nine Ways of Prayer is illustrated by ten miniatures, most showing the saint in the recommended postures for prayer before a crucifix. The book's diminutive size and devotional content suggest its possible early use as a girdle book (a book worn hanging from one's belt).
