Tumbo A is a significant Spanish cartulary in two sections: the first was created between 1129 and 1134, while the rest was added in phases through 1255. Its miniatures, featuring portraits of monarchs, reflect a blend of influences and provide insight into royal attire and contemporary architecture. Organized by reign, the manuscript preserves documents from Alfonso II, King of Asturias, to Alfonso X, King of Castile and Leon, serving as an invaluable resource for understanding the history of this period as well as offering a rare glimpse into the visual representation of power and authority.
