Made around 1482-1503 in Saragossa, the richly illuminated Rhyme of the Conquest of Granada was commissioned by Pedro Marcuello, the author of the manuscript’s poetic text, as a gift to Joanna, later Queen of Castile, and her husband Philip the Handsome, later King of Castile. The text includes dedications to Joanna, Philip, and Joanna’s parents, Ferdinand II, King of Aragon, and Isabella, Queen of Castile. Among the fifty-nine miniatures, painted in the fashionable Flemish style, are images of Marcuello presenting the book to Joanna, Philip, and Isabel in three different miniatures.
We have 1 facsimile edition of the manuscript "Rhyme of the Conquest of Granada": Rimado de la Conquista de Granada facsimile edition, published by Edilan, 1995
