The Prayer Book of Philip II is a luxuriously decorated Christian prayer book created in Spain in the sixteenth century for Philip II, King of Spain. The full-page miniatures are painted in the Italian mannerist style by Andrés de León and Julián de la Fuente el Saz. They dramatically depict saints and scenes from the lives of Christ and the Virgin Mary. The manuscript also includes intricate initials and trompe l'oeil ("fool the eye") floral and architectural frames.
