The Hours of Henry II is a Christian prayer book made in Paris around 1543-1547. Its innovative Old Testament picture cycle unfolds in fourteen full-page miniatures. It also boasts thirty-seven heraldic initials with the arms of France and the Medici and Dinteville families. The Dinteville family commissioned the book, later presenting it to Henry II, King of France, upon his coronation in 1547 with the addition of two full-page frontispiece miniatures, a miniature of Henry II miraculously healing a sufferer of scrofula, and prayers specific to the king's use.
