The Granada On the Nature of Things is an illuminated compendium of scientific knowledge embellished by six hundred finely painted miniatures attributed to Martinus Opifex. The manuscript dates to around 1445 and contains part of the encyclopedia Liber de natura rerum, a guide to applying natural philosophy to theology by Thomas de Cantimpré. Also included are extracts from the Tacuinum Sanitatis (a Latin version of an Arabic medical treatise) and a treatise on falconry. Marginal annotations provide German translations of isolated phrases of the Latin text.
