The Confraternity Book of Saint Peter was first created in 784 when the Benedictine abbey of Saint Peter was also the seat of the archbishop of Salzburg. As the earliest surviving manuscript from the Salzburg scriptorium, it holds immense historical significance and provides invaluable insight into the history of monastic life and the relics stored in the monastic church. In addition to the eighth-century confraternity records, it includes a "new confraternity book" written in the eleventh century that is notable for its colorful painted arcades (pp. 29-38).
