The Book of Prophecies is a collection of citations from the Christian Latin Bible and ancient and medieval authorities compiled at Granada beginning in 1501 under the direction of Christopher Columbus. The compilation was to serve as source material for a treatise—never written—justifying the Christian conquest of Jerusalem and the conversion to Christianity of "the islands of the Indes and of all peoples and nations." Six scribes, including Columbus himself, did the copying. He took the book on his fourth voyage when he added notes concerning that expedition.
