The Book of Privileges is a collection of documents issued by Ferdinand V, King of Aragon, and Isabella I, Queen of Castile, to Christopher Columbus (then titled "Admiral of the Ocean Sea"), which laid the groundwork for the European conquest and colonization of the Americas. The manuscript, produced in 1498 in Spain on paper and parchment, was probably compiled in the direction of Columbus; it is, therefore, an early edition of his 1502 compilation, famously distributed before his fourth voyage.
