The Hours of Mencía de Mendoza is a tiny and beautifully illuminated manuscript created in Bruges between 1538 and 1541, attributed to the workshop of the famous Flemish illuminator Simon Bening. A personal prayer book for Mencía de Mendoza, the manuscript features extensive illumination that showcases intricate and colorful floral designs, full borders with grotesque figures, fantastic creatures, and gold embellishments, highlighting the exceptional skill of its creators. The coat of arms of Mencía's first husband, Henry III, Count of Nassau-Breda, is depicted in the manuscript (fol. 35r).
